About Professor Hillman

Professor Sara Hillman is a Professor of Genomic Medicine and Consultant Obstetrician and Fetal Medicine Specialist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She holds a Maternal-Fetal Medicine sub-specialty and leads a weekly fetal medicine scanning clinic at UCLH, specialising in complex fetal anomalies and prenatal genetic diagnosis.

At Central Health London, Professor Hillman provides expert private maternity care for both straightforward and high-risk pregnancies. Her combination of senior clinical expertise, internationally recognised research, and compassionate, personalised care ensures patients benefit from the latest advances in obstetrics and fetal medicine. She is also co-founder of Wellspring, a women's health information platform dedicated to improving informed consent and shared decision-making.

Professor Hillman provides comprehensive private obstetric care from early pregnancy through to birth and postnatal recovery. Consultations take place at Central Health London's Marylebone clinic, where patients have access to an experienced multidisciplinary team including midwives, fetal medicine specialists, genetic counsellors, lactation consultants, mental health professionals and paediatricians.

Deliveries take place at University College Hospital, The Portland Hospital or other leading London maternity hospitals, depending on patient preference and clinical requirements.

Clinical Background, Leadership & Research

Professor Hillman graduated from University College London in 2003, alongside a BSc in Neuroscience, before completing a PhD investigating the genetic and environmental influences on fetal growth. She later completed subspecialty training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UCLH and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG).

Alongside her clinical practice, Professor Hillman is Academic Training Programme Director for the London School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and supervises the next generation of obstetricians. She leads a Medical Research Council-funded translational research programme investigating pregnancy, placental function, pre-eclampsia and fetal growth restriction, while collaborating on international research to improve maternal and fetal outcomes. This combination of clinical leadership and active research enables her to provide evidence-based care informed by the latest developments in obstetrics and fetal medicine.
