Title
Dr Sara Hillman

Sara Hillman specialises in providing outstanding, personalised care for pregnant women throughout their pregnancy and delivery. Her expertise centres on regular prenatal check-ups, ultrasound scans of the baby (or babies), comprehensive delivery planning (including mode of delivery), and the identification and management of any pregnancy complications, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
She possesses particular skill in managing pre-existing medical conditions that may impact pregnancy or require adapted management during this time. In terms of delivery, Sara offers thorough discussions and planning to empower women and their partners to make informed decisions about their birthing preferences. Working within partner hospitals, she supports vaginal birth, both induced and natural, and provides the option of planned caesarean sections. Furthermore, she offers expert intervention during labour when necessary, including assisted (instrumental) births or caesarean sections to ensure the safe delivery of the baby.
Driven by the belief that birth and the pregnancy journey should be a joyous and transformative experience, Sara is passionate about sharing and supporting women through this significant time. She is known for her dedication to delivering high-quality care and her skill as a labour ward practitioner. Her aim is to guide women and their partners through their pregnancy journey and facilitate the type of delivery, whether vaginal or caesarean section, that best aligns with their individual needs. She employs a holistic and practical approach, integrating her extensive knowledge to provide truly comprehensive care to individuals and their families.
With a keen interest in promoting truly informed consent, Sara has co-founded a Women’s Health Digital information provision company (www.wellspring.com). She firmly believes in the importance of clear communication and shared decision-making with patients.
Patients visiting Central Health and consulting with Sara Hillman will benefit from her extensive experience as an Associate Professor and Consultant Obstetrician & Fetal Medicine Specialist at the internationally renowned University College London Hospital (UCLH). With over 20 years in clinical practice and a Maternal Fetal sub-specialism from UCLH, she offers expert ultrasound surveillance during the prenatal period. She routinely manages all aspects of pregnancy, including both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, with particular expertise in complex fetal and maternal prenatal issues. This ensures patients receive highly skilled and knowledgeable care.
Furthermore, Sara's unique dual academic and clinical perspectives offer an added advantage. She leads an active translational pregnancy research group, ensuring her practice is informed by the most current research findings. She takes the time to discuss these findings with patients and integrate them into pregnancy and birth choices. Choosing Central Health and Sara Hillman provides a unique, individualised, and research-driven approach to care throughout pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period.
