About Miss Evans

Miss Heather Evans is a Consultant Gynaecologist with extensive experience supporting women with concerns around cervical health, abnormal bleeding, and early gynaecological cancers. Patients commonly see her following abnormal smear results, or for colposcopy, hysteroscopy, heavy periods, or post-menopausal bleeding as well as general gynaecological concerns and checks.

She qualified from the University Hospital of Wales in 1990 and completed her specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at North West Thames, London, specialising in pre-invasive disease and early gynaecological cancers. She joined the Royal Free London in 2001 as a research fellow researching the role of the HPV virus in cervical cancer, and was appointed as a consultant there in 2002, working full-time in the department ever since.

Miss Evans has particular expertise in colposcopy and the management of abnormal cervical screening results. She understands how anxiety-provoking these appointments can be, and focuses on explaining findings in plain language, offering reassurance where appropriate, and involving patients fully in decisions about their care.

In clinic, Miss Evans is known for her calm, thorough approach. She takes time to listen, ensures patients feel informed rather than overwhelmed, and prioritises thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each individual situation. Many patients value her steady presence and the confidence of being guided by someone with such long-standing experience.

Areas of Specialist Practice in Gynaecology

Miss Evans is the clinical lead for gynaecological cancer at the Royal Free London and chairs its multidisciplinary team meeting. She holds a weekly colposcopy clinic and out-patient treatment clinic, a weekly rapid access clinic and out-patient hysteroscopy clinic, and an alternate-week operating list.
