Leonie Kenny

Leonie Kenny is a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist, qualified at University College London, with over 25 years’ experience supporting children and young people and adults across a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.
Leonie has worked extensively across both NHS and independent settings in London, as well as internationally in Australia, Hong Kong, Egypt and Ireland. She completed her MSc at City, University of London and spent 17 years combining NHS and private practice before moving fully into independent work in 2017.
Her clinical experience spans child development centres, nurseries, community clinics, and both mainstream and specialist schools. She works closely within multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians, psychotherapists and occupational therapists, and takes a holistic, child-centred approach to therapy, with a strong emphasis on engagement and making sessions enjoyable.
Leonie has a specialist interest in social cognition and neurodivergence, including experience contributing to diagnostic pathways. She is trained in delivering ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) assessments as part of a multidisciplinary autism assessment process, supporting the identification and understanding of autism in children and young people and adults. Alongside assessment, she works therapeutically to strengthen communication, interaction and social understanding.
Her approach is eclectic and evidence-based, tailored to each individual and grounded in the latest research.
Originally from Dublin, Leonie developed an early interest in communication through volunteering with children and adults with additional needs. This continues to underpin her work today; she is passionate about helping every client reach their full potential and supporting families to better understand and navigate communication differences.
Leonie is an active member of specialist professional groups and regularly engages in ongoing training to ensure her practice remains current, evidence-based and aligned with best practice both in the UK and internationally.
