Emma Rhoda

Emma Rhoda is an experienced Counsellor with a strong background in working with adolescents, adults, and families. She has over twenty years of experience working across a variety of settings in both Hong Kong and the UK.
Emma specialises in the psychological impact of chronic and acute illnesses, stress, anxiety, depression and life transitions such as divorce, end of life, bereavement and perinatal issues. In addition, she has extensive experience in working with parents and their children from early childhood through to adolescence and beyond. Her therapeutic practice has been developed by drawing on complimentary modalities, utilising a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness. Her approach is collaborative, focusing on empowering clients to overcome challenges, build emotional resilience, and improve their overall well-being. Alongside working with individuals, Emma works with children and teenagers, running group programmes to improve social skills and emotional regulation. In addition, she runs weekly groups for perinatal women helping manage stress, anxiety, and relationship issues.
Emma holds Masters’ degrees in Counselling Psychology from Monash University (Australia) and Health Psychology from University College London (UK). She has contributed to the field through her work on psychosocial health education and research on the psychosocial effects of natural disasters for the WHO and on the impact of cancer diagnosis for Oxford University. Emma’s work extends beyond therapy, with significant experience in staff training, programme development, and advocacy, particularly for neurodiverse individuals and their families.
