Dr Simon Broughton

Dr Simon Broughton leads the paediatric team at Central Health London. With over 30 years’ experience, he has provided acute paediatric care at some of the UK’s busiest teaching hospitals, gaining extensive expertise in all aspects of general paediatrics, especially complex and difficult-to-treat cases. He has been a Consultant Paediatrician at King’s College Hospital since 2007.

Simon enjoys being at the frontline of clinical care, working closely with children and their families. He believes management should not only address medical problems but support the wider needs of the child and their long-term wellbeing. Understanding the impact of illness on the whole family, Simon values taking the time needed to provide compassionate, holistic care — a key reason he expanded into private practice. His outstanding patient feedback reflects both his clinical expertise and his warm, collaborative approach.

One of a dwindling number of truly general paediatricians, Simon cares for all aspects of a child’s health. He is an Advanced Paediatric Life Support Instructor and Course Director, and has held senior teaching and management roles nationally. His broad knowledge of paediatric services allows him to guide families towards the best specialists or hospital care when needed, supported by a strong network built over decades of mentoring consultants across London.

Simon’s academic work includes a PhD in viral respiratory infections and over 35 peer-reviewed publications. His clinical interests include cough and wheeze, faltering growth, gastro-oesophageal reflux, constipation, abdominal pain, fatigue, infections, headaches, abnormal head shape, and common skin conditions.
