About Dr Shangaris
Dr Panicos Shangaris is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) with over 20 years of clinical experience supporting women and families through every stage of pregnancy. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) and holds a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship and a PhD in Fetal Medicine from University College London, alongside an MSc with Distinction in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine from University College London (UCL).
As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College London, Dr Shangaris leads research into cutting-edge innovations in fetal medicine and mentors the next generation of maternal-fetal medicine specialists. His research background directly informs his clinical practice, ensuring patients benefit from the most current evidence.
Dr Shangaris is known for his calm, reassuring manner and takes time to ensure that every woman feels fully informed, supported, and empowered throughout her pregnancy journey.

Dr Shangaris offers comprehensive private maternity care from as early as six weeks through to postnatal recovery. Private appointments are held at Central Health London's Marylebone clinic, where patients have access to an experienced multidisciplinary team including midwives, lactation consultants, newborn specialists, mental health professionals, and paediatricians, all in one place.
Deliveries take place at either The Portland Hospital or King's College Hospital (Guthrie Private Wing), according to patient preference and clinical indication.

Dr Shangaris graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland before completing specialist training in Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine in London. Mentored by world-renowned experts at King's College Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital, he went on to earn an MSc with Distinction in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine from UCL. He was also awarded the prestigious Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship to complete his PhD in Fetal Medicine at University College London.
Research & Academic Appointments
As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College London, Dr Shangaris leads pioneering research focused on improving outcomes for pregnancies at risk of preterm labor.
