Title
Dr Lucy Lord MBE

Dr Lucy Lord is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with over 40 years of experience in women’s health and an internationally recognised career dedicated to maternity care, fertility, and maternal mental health. She is a founding partner of Central Health London and leads the women’s health services at the clinic.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Dr Lord began her career in London, training at Queen Charlotte’s and St Mary’s Hospitals before moving to Hong Kong, where she joined a small obstetric practice in 1991. Over the following three decades, she led its transformation into one of Hong Kong’s most respected private medical groups—Central Health Hong Kong—now employing over 100 staff and seeing more than 2,000 patients per week across multiple sites. Recognised for her clinical excellence and tireless advocacy, Dr Lord was awarded an MBE in the UK’s 2022 New Year Honours List for services to health in Hong Kong. She has delivered over 6,000 babies and is particularly known for her expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies and recurrent miscarriage, while also championing safe, supported natural birth where appropriate.
A core theme in Dr Lord’s work has always been her advocacy for maternal mental health. She has long emphasised the fundamental truth that “the wellbeing of the family is determined by maternal mental health and therefore it should be the primary goal of primary health care services to support women’s mental health” —a belief that has underpinned her work both in clinical practice and public health reform. She was instrumental in campaigning for policy changes in Hong Kong to improve maternity safety, access to fertility care, and compassionate treatment for women experiencing pregnancy loss.
Dr Lord also founded Central Health’s charitable arm, the Patient Care Foundation, which supports vulnerable groups including high-risk pregnant women, children separated from parents in hospital, refugees, and individuals with mental health difficulties. Her most impactful contribution, however, may be the founding of Mind Hong Kong (MindHK), a major mental health NGO dedicated to ending stigma and increasing access to care. As Executive Chair, she continues to oversee initiatives such as the Improving Access to Community Therapies (IACT) programme and the launch of Hong Kong’s first free online evidence based mental health counselling platform.
Now based in the UK, Dr Lord brings her wealth of experience and values-led approach to Central Health London, where she continues her commitment to women’s wellbeing by providing compassionate multidisciplinary family healthcare in one location.
