Kenga Sivarajah is the lead for obstetrics at Central Health London and a Consultant Obstetrician at King’s College Hospital, with a specialist interest in high-risk obstetrics, maternal medicine, perinatal mental health, and obstetric risk management.

After graduating with distinction in Clinical Sciences from Imperial College London, she undertook an academic foundation programme in Oxford, including a placement at Boehringer Ingelheim, before completing specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North East Thames. During her training, she developed a strong focus on the care of women with complex medical needs in pregnancy, completing Advanced Training Skills Modules (ATSMs) in Obstetric Medicine, Advanced Antenatal Practice, and Advanced Labour Ward Practice. She holds dual membership of both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), reflecting her commitment to providing comprehensive medical care to pregnant women.

She has trained extensively in tertiary maternal medicine centres and now leads the cardiac, liver and respiratory services at King’s. She established the joint obstetric-cardiology service at King’s College Hospital.

An innovator in perinatal mental health, Kenga has pioneered a joint obstetric-psychiatry service for women with severe mental health conditions. This multi-disciplinary approach, developed in collaboration with the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, has been nationally recognised with a Royal College of Midwives award.

Throughout her career, Kenga has been committed to education and research. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and has been a faculty member for several teaching programmes at University College London (UCL), including the Labour Ward Theory Course and Women’s Health Prescribing Module. She is a trained PROMPT instructor, MRCOG examiner, and actively mentors junior doctors in serious incident investigation and reporting.

Her academic work includes publications in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology and Obstetric Medicine, with research interests spanning maternal cardiology, perinatal mental health, obstetric risk, and complex medical disorders in pregnancy. She has presented extensively at national and international conferences.

Kenga continues to contribute to national guideline development, having collaborated with NICE on the revision of the multiple pregnancy guideline. Her quality improvement projects as Labour ward Lead at King’s College Hospital include innovations in outpatient induction of labour, fluid balance management, and triage systems.

With a career that bridges clinical excellence, patient safety, mental health advocacy, and education, Kenga Sivarajah is widely recognised for her holistic and multidisciplinary approach to maternal care.

Patients often describe Kenga as warm, empathetic, and deeply committed to their care. Her approachable nature and consistent availability help foster a strong sense of trust and comfort. Many find it difficult to part ways after their journey together, a testament to the meaningful connections she builds throughout their care experience.
