Dr Henry Clements

Dr Henry Clements is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over twenty years’ experience of working clinically with adults both within and outside the NHS. Henry is a full-time Professor of Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL) where he leads the training of NHS Clinical Psychologists as the Course Director on the UCL Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Henry holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UCL and a postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) from King’s College London, and he is accredited as a CBT Therapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He also trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Henry works flexibly with a broad range of presentations such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity issues, managing transitions, grief and navigating life’s challenges. He works with numerous evidence-based therapies, including CBT and brief and longer-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as drawing on Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Henry has also coached professionals for many years and is able to offer coaching to help clients thrive in their life and career. Henry completed his first degree in English and French Literature and subsequently pursued a career in law, working as a solicitor in the City for over ten years before transitioning to clinical psychology and psychotherapy. Henry is committed to working collaboratively and compassionately with his clients and draws on the therapeutic approaches most suited to their needs. He focuses on helping clients to identify what they would like to change and then works with them to help make meaningful changes.
