Dr Greg Shields is a consultant psychiatrist with a broad-ranging clinical and academic career that spans three continents. Educated at the University of Sydney and completing his psychiatric training at the prestigious Maudsley Training Programme in London, Greg brings over 15 years of experience in psychiatry, specialising in supporting patients with cancer and other serious physical illness, palliative care, neuropsychiatry, difficult to treat psychosis and depression.


He currently holds senior roles at King’s College Hospital and The London Clinic, where he leads psychiatric strategy and education. Greg is particularly interested in the interface between mental and physical health and has held consultant posts in cancer psychological care, national psychosis services, and haematology liaison teams.


He is also recognised for his pioneering work in medical education through Maudsley Learning and King’s College London. Greg has an integrative, evidence-based approach, shaped by his training in a wide range of psychotherapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, MBT, DBT, and CALM therapy for patients with life-limiting illnesses. His practice combines deep scientific insight with a strong commitment to patient-centred, empathetic care.


Known for his thought leadership in mental health innovation and service design, Greg is a sought-after speaker and published author in areas ranging from psychopharmacology to global psychiatry education.
