Mr Anthony Silverstone

Mr Anthony Silverstone is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, including 34 years as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University College Hospital (UCH).

He graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 1969 and undertook specialist training in obstetrics, gynaecology and surgery at leading hospitals in Oxford and London, including the Radcliffe Infirmary, Churchill Hospital, Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Chelsea Hospital for Women and St Thomas’ Hospital. He holds surgical fellowships from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and subsequently gained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG).

After completing his senior registrar training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Mr Silverstone was awarded a fellowship in gynaecological oncology at Toronto General Hospital. On his return to the UK, he was appointed Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCH in 1982, with a special interest in gynaecological oncology.

He remained at UCH until 2016 and was recognised with the Chairman’s Achievement Award in 2014 for his contribution to the Trust. Alongside his NHS career, Mr Silverstone maintained a busy private practice until 2023.

Teaching has remained an important part of his career. He continues to teach medical students at University College London, sharing the clinical knowledge and experience gained over a lifetime in medicine with the next generation of doctors.

Mr Silverstone brings to Central Health an exceptional depth of experience in women’s health and gynaecology, together with the perspective that comes from many years of caring for women throughout their lives.
